Introduction to the physics of Near Infrared spectroscopy.
The Oxymon Mk III is a scientifically sound, user-friendly, and flexible near infrared system.
The PortaLite is our wireless and portable NIRS system specifically for measurements on brain tissue.
The PortaMon is our wireless and portable NIRS system specifically for measurements on muscle tissue.
There is a vast number of publications on NIRS. Here we present some of the general literature on NIRS, on specific applications and literature utilizing the Oxymon and PortaMon.
A test set for tomography systems. Currently the first Digital Breast Tomosynthesis systems are introduced on the market. A protocol for the quality control of the physical and technical aspects of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis and required QA phantom set was developed within the workpackage: “Technical Quality assurance in 3D mammography and contrast mammo-graphy” of the European HighREX project.
In dental radiology it is essential to maintain constant quality. Based on our experience with contrast detail phantoms the Artinis CDDENT 1.0 phantom is developed. In this phantom objects with very small contrast and diameter are used. By using this phantom quality can be maintained through the years, and radiation dose versus image quality can be optimized.
The Artinis CDDISC 2.0 phantom is especially designed for the evaluation of fluoroscopes. With the CDDISC phantom it is possible to quantify both, detail and contrast, as observed by the radiologist. The principles of the phantom are equal to these of the CDRAD phantom.
In mammography it is essential that objects with very small contrast and diameter can be distinguished. Therefore the quality of the technical aspects of the mammography equipment should be monitored at regular time-intervals. The Artinis CDMAM 3.4 phantom is specially developed to facilitate this task in analog and digital mammography systems, i.e. detecting very low contrast and detecting very small details. The CDMAM is considered to be the world gold standard and is described in the European Protocol for quality assurance in Digital Mammography.
A companion to the Artinis CDMAM phantom is the Artinis CDMAM Analyser program. This program has the ability to score digital images obtained with the CDMAM phantom automatically. It is a necessity for maintaining quality. The program is easy to use and gives the user reports of the quality of the images obtained. The phantom is scored using the CDCOM analysis core from EUREF.
Most definitions of image quality in radiology are based on characterizing the physical properties of the image chain. However, medical diagnosis is not made by the image alone. The perception by the observer is crucial for the result. A test of the observers perception is possible with so called Contrast-Detail (CD) phantoms.
A companion to the Artinis CDRAD phantom is the Artinis CD Analyser program. This program has the ability to score digital images obtained with the CDRAD phantom automatically. Its a necessity for maintaining quality. The program is easy to use and gives the user reports of the quality of the mages obtained.
The CEDM phantom is developed for quality control of enhanced contrast imaging techniques. The phantom is used for detection of small detail marked by the contrast fluid system. Also detection of contrast differences between different contrast fluid concentrations can be tested with this phantom.
The Artinis DIGIMAM 1.0 phantom is designed for digital mammography. The phantom was developed in close co-operation with the physical-technical quality group of the European Breast Cancer Network and complies with the European Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Digital Mammography Screening.
The (Geometric) Distortion phantom contains a wire mesh of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines (45o). The dimensions of the phantom are 320 x 260 mm. For tomography systems a special low contrast 3D geometric distortion phantom is available.
The EU Test Set has been produced according to the descriptions of the fourth edition of the European Guidelines for quality assurance in breast cancer screening and diagnosis chapter 2b “Digital Mammography” and the EUREF type testing protocol version 1. All tests described in the guidelines can be performed with this set and the CDMAM phantom.
This set of phantoms is designed for quality control of dental systems. It complies with the Belgium criteria of acceptability for dental x-ray machines for diagnostic purposes.
The MTF Tool is designed for the measurement of the spatial resolution of radiology and mammography systems.
This phantom is developed according to the German PAS 1054 guidelines. It contains various elements.
The Artinis QAMAM 4.0 is the phantom for quality assurance of analog mammography. The phantom fully complies the European guidelines.
The X-ray ruler has a measurement range from 5 cm to -5 cm with a resolution of 1 mm. The rulers are available for conventional mammography systems and tomosynthesis systems. The X-ray rulers are delivered per set of 4 pieces.
