Artinis Contrast-Detail Dental Phantom CDDENT 1.0
|
... Quality control for the dental field ... Introduction Not only in mammography or conventional radiology it is essential to maintain a constant quality. This is also the case in dental radiology. Therefore we have developed a unique phantom, based on our contrast-detail phantoms: the Artinis CDDENT 1.0 phantom. In this phantom objects with very small contrast and diameter are used. By using this phantom quality can be maintained through the years, and radiation dose- image quality can be optimized.
Construction
The phantom
consists of an aluminum base with various cylindrical objects of different depth
and diameter.
The aluminum base is covered with Plexiglas (PMMA). Under
normal dental-radiation conditions the aluminum base and PMMA cover have an equivalent
of an average tooth. The thickness of the phantom is 3.0 mm, the overall size is
40 by 30 mm. The effective area is 25 by 16 mm, which makes the phantom suitable
for almost every image sensor on the market. The phantom is prepared for to be used in conjunction with an
automatic analyser program. Evaluation After having made an x-ray image the phantom is evaluated by indicating which objects are visible. The line connecting the spots with the smallest visible diameter and depth (or contrast) is the contrast-detail curve. This is explained in more detail on the pages of for example the CDRAD phantom. Specifications are subject
to change without notice.
