Breast Tomo Set
Introduction
A test set for tomography systems. Currently the first Digital Breast Tomosynthesis systems are introduced on the market. A protocol for the quality control of the physical and technical aspects of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis and required QA phantom set was developed within the workpackage: “Technical Quality assurance in 3D mammography and contrast mammo-graphy” of the European HighREX project.
Test objects
The Breast tomo test set contains the following objects. Each object can be ordered separately:
- Object Thickness compensation Phantom
A 10mm 100% glandularity ball embedded in 240x180x15mm PMMA with additional plates:- PMMA; 2x2.5mm, 1x5mm
- PE; 4x2.5mm, 3x5mm, 6x10mm
- 3D Image reconstruction artefacts phantom
PMMA 320 x 260 x 5 mm with one embedded aluminium sphere of 1 mm. - 3D X-ray Ruler
Used for measuring the coincidence of reconstructed and irradiated volume and to test for missed tissue at test wall side. 4 pieces are part of the delivery - Phantom for evaluating Z-resolution
The Z-resolution is measured on six positions in the reconstructed tomosynthesis image, the phantom consists of a PMMA plate of 320 x 260 x 5mm with 6 embedded aluminium spheres of 1mm. - Homogeneous block
Measurement of the short and long term reproducibility, homogeneity test; PMMA 320x260x45 mm +/- 0.1 mm polished appearance - 3D Geometric Distortion Phantom
PMMA engraved and painted with horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines, 320x260 mm - Attenuation plates
PMMA 320 x 260 mm total thickness of 85 mm:- 7 x 10 mm

- 2 x 2.5 mm
All showed items are part of the Breast Tomo QA Set. For testing according to the protocol also the CDMAM phantom for contrast detail imaging and the aluminum filters for the half layer value evaluation are necessary, but are not a part of this set and can be obtained separately by Artinis Medical Systems.
