Introduction
The Artinis DIGIMAM 1.0 phantom is designed for digital mammography. The phantom was developed in close co-operation with the physical-technical quality group of the European Breast Cancer Network and complies with the European Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Digital Mammography Screening.
Construction
The Artinis DIGIMAM 1.0 phantom consists of a Plexiglas® tablet with a thickness that simulates the average breast. It contains various functions, like:
- Contrast-Detail analysis tool containing gold discs of various thickness and diameter.
- A check for geometric distortion.
- A quick check for bad columns of the detector.
- Rulers that allow distance measurements.
- Contrast-to-noise ratio measurement.
- Reference point for signal-to-noise ratio measurement.
- A check for missed tissue at the chest wall.
- A sheet for dynamic range evaluation
- Inserts to check the dynamic range with a low contrast insert:
- in "fatty" tissue
- in "normal" tissue
- in "dense" tissue
