Homogeneous block
The homogeneous block phantom is a polished PMMA plate of 45 mm with extreme flatness used for several tests in the European Guidelines for Quality assurance in mammography.
The sizes of the phantom are 320 x 260 x 45 mm, thickness tolerance ± 0.1 mm.
Applications:
- Image receptor homogeneity
- Image receptor stability
- Inter plate sensitivity variations (CR systems)
- Check the AEC behaviour
- Evaluation of the mean value of AGD
- Testing for artefacts in detector plates
- Correspondance to sensors: Some mammography systems incorporate several independent AEC sensors. For these systems it should be checked whether the optical density of images made with different sensors correspond and if the correct sensor is chosen by the system.
Also homogeneous block phantoms of other thicknesses are available on request.
