Introduction Course to mNIRS & HD-EMG - Italy
As the use of muscle Near Infrared Spectroscopy (mNIRS) and Electromyography (EMG) continues to grow each year, we are excited to offer our expertise to ensure that everyone can use this equipment to its full potential. In light of this, we have developed a one-day introductory course on mNIRS and HD-EMG that is open to anyone interested in using these techniques to access muscle activity, including students, postgraduates, researchers, new users, and other professionals. All mNIRS and EMG enthusiasts are welcome!
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
This introduction course will be held on Friday, 10th of October 2025 at CeRiSM: Centro Ricerca Sport, Salute e Montagna in Rovereto (TN), Italy.
PROGRAM
The mNIRS & HD-EMG introduction course will cover:
Basic theory and technology behind mNIRS and HD-EMG
mNIRS and HD-EMG application areas
Advanced muscle NIRS and HD-EMG (theory, methods, experimental setup and study examples)
Practical hands-on session – perform different experiments from set-up to simple data analysis.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Attendance to the course costs € 60,- / person
Coffee and tea will be provided
Lunch can be offered for an additional € 15,-. There is a nice cafeteria nearby which offers a complete meal including: main dish, side salad, water, coffee and small dessert.
This mNIRS & HD-EMG introduction course has limited spots for 25 participants. Therefore, we operate on a ‘first come, first served’ policy.

What do I need to prepare?
Having a laptop and notebook will make the introduction course a better experience. Of course, if you have any questions, it helps to write them down beforehand, so they become better defined, and you won’t forget to ask them.
What is the difference between the NIRS Introduction Course and ARTscientific?
The introduction course is meant to learn more about the theory and practice of mNIRS and HD-EMG. ARTScientific is longer and focuses more on exchange with other (f)NIRS experienced scientists.
