Introduction to (Functional) Near Infrared Spectroscopy

As the use of Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy continues to grow each year, we are excited to offer our expertise to ensure that everyone can use this equipment to its full potential. In light of this, we have developed an introductory course on fNIRS that is open to anyone interested in Near Infrared Spectroscopy, including students, postgraduates, researchers, new users, and other professionals.

All (f)NIRS enthusiasts are welcome!

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

This introduction course will be held on Friday, 7 June 2024 at the University of Ottawa - Crossroads Learning Building (CRX), Ontario, Canada, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

PROGRAM

The (f)NIRS introduction course will be divided into two different parts:

  • Theoretical background — learn more about:

    • The theory and technology behind (f)NIRS

    • (f)NIRS applications in the field of neuroscience research and psychology

    • Applicable experimental setup and analysis methods

  • Practical hands-on session: put the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice and perform different (f)NIRS experiments from set-up to simple data analysis.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
  • Attendance to the course costs 75 CAD.

  • This (f)NIRS introduction course has limited spots for 15 participants. Therefore, we operate on a ‘first come, first served’ policy.

  • Registration deadline: May 30th.

  • Credit card payment only (VISA or MASTER) - No onsite payment.

  • Coffee, tea, and snacks will be available at the University campus.

  • Please let us know when you registered but are not able to join anymore so we can allow another participant to join.

  • Cancellation after May 30th, 2024 can be transferred to a colleague or alternatively, attendance at the following introduction course can be arranged.

What is the difference between the NIRS Introduction Course and ARTscientific?

The (f)NIRS introduction course is meant to learn more about the theory and practice of (f)NIRS. ARTScientific is longer and focuses more on exchange with other (f)NIRS experienced scientists.
