NIRS and fNIRS systems

At Artinis, our goal is to make optical imaging easy. We offer the full spectrum of NIRS devices, and all our devices can be mixed and matched to create your optimal setup. To aid you in finding the right device(s) for your research, we have drafted a comparative table with the most important specifications for each device.

What is Near Infrared Spectroscopy?

How do all our devices differ?

Brain imaging— fNIRS

fNIRS stands for functional near-infrared spectroscopy. The functional component comes from the fact that our fNIRS devices are capable of assessing brain activity. This is done by measuring changes in oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin, which reflect local brain activity. Moreover, fNIRS provides a non-invasive manner to achieve an excellent resolution brain signal in real time.

Brite family

The only wearable & flexible multi-channel fNIRS devices on the market made for brain oxygenation measurement that is user-friendly and truly comfortable.

Brite Ultra — coming soon

Ultra fNIRS hyperscanning made easy with the Brite Ultra system.

PortaLite

Truly lite & advanced oxygenation monitoring device that measures local tissue saturation index (TSI), as well as oxy-, deoxy- and total hemoglobin concentration changes.

fNIRS - EEG

Have a complete picture of brain activity with a fully integrated, wearable, or stationary, fNIRS-EEG package.

fNIRS - EEG - tES

It is possible to combine NIRS, EEG, and tES (tDCS, tACS, tRNS) in one single headcap.

OxyMon 8 channel fNIRS.jpg

OxyMon

Our most advanced and versatile fNIRS system which is proficient in measuring oxy-, deoxy-, and total hemoglobin concentration changes in both brain and muscle tissue. The OxyMon is also compatible with fMRI.

At the moment, the OxyMon is limited in stock. Contact us for more information.

Muscle Imaging

The field of sport Science is one of the first research fields where NIRS found wide use application. In Sport Science it is critical to have insight in the local muscle oxygen consumption.

PortaMon

The gold-standard research device for the measurement of muscle oxygenation that measures oxy-, deoxy- and total hemoglobin in muscle tissue.

PortaLite

A portable oxygenation monitoring device that can fit on almost every muscle. Measures local tissue saturation (TSI), as well as oxy-, deoxy-, and total hemoglobin.

OctaMon M

Completely wearable 8-channel NIRS device that measures oxy-, deoxy- and total hemoglobin on any muscle in a non-invasive and truly portable way.

 fNIRS for children & infants

The complex architecture of the human brain develops in an ongoing process that starts in the womb and continues into adulthood. In the first few years of human life, more than 1 million new neural connections are formed every second. The processes that underlie the developing brain have long been a neuroscientific area of interest.

The fNIRS mini devices developed by Artinis are lightweight, user-friendly, and comfortable, making them perfectly suited for studies on sensitive subjects, such as babies.

OctaMon mini

A completely wearable 8-channel fNIRS device that measures oxy-, deoxy- and total hemoglobin and is optimized for pediatric research.

BabyBrite

A wearable & flexible multi-channel fNIRS device for brain oxygenation measurement. The BabyBrite is specially designed to provide extra comfort to young babies.

PortaLite mini

The mini variant of PortaLite MKII which is optimized for pediatric research.

Supporting features

To fit each type of research we have developed accessories which can be used together with our NIRS products. If you feel you have a great concept but need further support to realize it, please contact us to see how we can make it work.

OxySoft

Oxysoft is our proprietary NIRS recording and analysis software. Oxysoft allows robust recordings even of multiple devices at the same time, in any thinkable combination.

Artinis headcap & Optode holders

At Artinis we designed and developed our own headcaps with a clean look, ergonomic fit, and printed optode marks. The caps show major improvements over the other commonly used NIRS and EEG headcaps.

PortaSync

Wireless event synchronization device.

NIRS & eye tracking software

Integrate NIRS with the eye-tracking technology.

Polhemus

We distribute the Polhemus devices to digitize the position of your optodes in 3D.

Chronos adapter

Send E-Prime triggers with millisecond accuracy.

AD board

Collects analog data like events automatically with the OxyMon.

Parallel Sync cable

Synchronize your E-Prime / Matlab protocol with NIRS automatically.
