Introduction course to mNIRS & HD-EMG
As the use of muscle Near Infrared Spectroscopy and HD-Electromyography continues to grow each year, we are excited to offer our expertise to ensure that everyone can use this equipment to its full potential. In light of this, we have developed a one-day introductory course on mNIRS & HD-EMG that is open to anyone interested in either of these technologies, including students, postgraduates, researchers, new users, and other professionals. All NIRS / EMG enthusiasts are welcome!

LOCATION & SCHEDULEThis introduction course will be held on Thursday, 13th of November 2025 at the headquarters of Artinis Medical Systems in Elst, The Netherlands.
PROGRAMThe mNIRS & HD-EMG introduction course will cover:
Basic theory and technology behind mNIRS and HD-EMG
mNIRS and HD-EMG application areas
Advanced muscle NIRS and HD-EMG (theory, methods, experimental setup and study examples)
Practical hands-on session – perform different experiments from set-up to simple data analysis.
PRACTICAL INFORMATIONAttendance to the course is free of charge for all participants.
Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided, as well as a typical Dutch lunch.
This mNIRS & HD-EMG introduction course has limited spots for 20 participants. Therefore, we operate on a ‘first come, first served’ policy.
Please let us know if you are registered but are not able to join anymore, so we can allow another participant to join.

This time, the mNIRS & HD-EMG introduction course will be held in person at our headquarters in Elst, The Netherlands.
What do I need to prepare?
Having a laptop and notebook will make the introduction course a better experience. Of course, if you have any questions, it helps to write them down beforehand so they become better defined and you won’t forget to ask them.
What is the difference between the mNIRS & HD-EMG Introduction Course and ARTscientific?
The mNIRS & HD-EMG introduction course is meant to learn more about the theory and practice of mNIRS and HD-EMG. ARTScientific is longer and focuses more on exchange with other (f)NIRS experienced scientists.
Please note that on the following day, November 14th, 2025, we will be hosting a complimentary introductory course at our office, designed to provide a foundational understanding of Electroencephalography (EEG). Feel free to register and attend both.
